Meet the team
Joey Dunleavy
Co-Founder Managing Director
Joey entered the yachting industry in 2012 as a stewardess working for the most prestigious charter yachts in the world. After crossing the Atlantic Ocean six times and travelling the world, Joey was drawn home to Sydney in January 2018 to start her new career as a Charter Broker.
Her passion for the industry, experience and diverse skill set has proven to be an asset for the company. You will feel at ease with Joey as she is known to be a breath of fresh air, ambitious and can identify opportunities and cater to them in her own unique way.
She has a unique capacity to understand the needs of owners, management companies and charter customers. Her broad industry experience, and reputation for discretion and excellence in customer service, are incredibly important to her when it comes to select clients that are utilizing our services.
Joey believes to be the best planner requires thinking differently and staying highly organised; it’s about staying ahead and anticipating what’s to come. She is dedicated to making your luxury superyacht experience accessible, flawlessly executed, and personalized down to the finest details, making your bespoke experience one to remember.
In her spare time, you will find Joey swimming, surfing and exploring new destinations to absorb its local culture, cuisine and unique experiences first-hand for her clients.
Sam Dunleavy
Co-Founder Managing Director
Sam started his yachting career in 2013 onboard a 30m private yacht cruising the Hauraki Gulf and Bay of Islands in New Zealand. From there, he crossed the Tasman Sea and experienced cruising the natural beauties of Australia’s Hamilton and Whitsunday Islands.
Intrigued by what lay further afield, Sam headed to the Mediterranean, working on a 65m Superyacht. He was able to experience everything it had to offer, from the French Riviera and Amalfi coast to the Islands of Greece and Spain. Cruising the Mediterranean in the Northern summer then crossing the Atlantic Ocean to the white sandy beaches and coconut trees of the Caribbean Islands for the Northern Winter.
Following his yachting career, Sam returned home to Waiheke Island, New Zealand, where he was raised, to resume the role of the chief winemaker handed down by his father.
Sam now runs The Yacht Life with Joey, alongside his winemaking and wine business, SJD WINE, where he consults and supplies fine wine to the superyacht industry and private clientele.
